tiny newsletter #222: oxford recap
hello helloooo,
writing to you straight after a “cardio tennis” (tennis w extra running lol) group class in my neighborhood, what a joy. i felt 12 again in the best way. i think that’s what summer’s all about.
two tiny’s ago i told you all about london, but my last stop on the trip was oxford. it’s an hour outside the city via train, have you been? fotn eleonora saravalle’s getting an mba there rn, and she gave me a grand tour.
my fav parts were…
🐟 eating fish + chips at perch. a lovely, cozy restaurant that you walk through an enormous meadow of sorts to get to. like in pride and prejudice honestly and through twinkly lights too.
🏛️ admiring oxford’s architecture. we don’t build places like this anymore – christchurch’s dining hall (theee harry potter one, yes), the ceiling at the sheldonian, and the details of magdalen.
🦌 watching deer (including some dark brown ones i’d never seen before!) enjoy their gorgeous home at magdalen (pronounced ‘mawd-lin’ btw).
🍽️ attending a formal din at nora’s college, hartford. you’ll need an in for this but everyone dresses up, follows customs like standing when the “high table” guests arrive (vips who sit at a literal elevated table), and they ring a bell when it’s over. v fun, 12/10.
✨ plus: the gorg reading room at blackwell’s bookstore, the sweets aisle at m&s, v good thai food at chiang mai kitchen, and most of all, time w nora and her friends.
💌 and that’s tiny! ty for reading, xo aud
