tiny newsletter #220: cheerio, etc
hellooo hellooooo,
it’s been 10 yrs since i was in london last and i forgot how big it is. other crucial updates: fish and chips (and scones, often??) are out, small plate wine bars and sunday roasts are still in.
back in high school, my friend nihal wrote me a poem that ended in “i think how satisfactory it would be to make circles all day / with just the people / we have always loved to know”. that's exactly how bopping btwn my uk friends has felt. everyone is the same and i am too, ha!
biggest ty in the world to fotn eva + victoire hayek, rose whitlock + lucia faraci, and eleonora saravalle for having me :'). anyways, that's more of a reflection for me vs something useful for you. so! here's a tiny london rec list:
🥭 eat/drink: a sunday roast at compton arms, ice cream at cafe deco (perf fancy lunch), wine and dessert at goodbye horses, and alphonso mango (plain, by itself) at dishoom.
🌹 read your book at: queen mary's rose garden at regent's park, while waiting in line to swim at the ladies swimming pond in hampstead heath.
🎨 look at art: andrew cranston paintings at modern art, churchill paintings at the wallace collection, tracey emin exhibition at tate modern, archive schiaparelli at v&a and request something at v&a e storehouse.
🛍️ shop: markers and paper ephemera at present & correct, a truly perfect store. i had fun at daunt books and choosing keeping too.
👀 eyes open: sit on the top floor + first seat of the bus, watch for tulip lane dividers, and book a ticket to see 1536.
💌 that's all i've got. so long, london! xo, aud
