tiny newsletter #192: ready for a sweet treat

hi friends!

i'm v excited to go to the great community bake sale tmrw. it’s organized by chef natasha pickowicz and all proceeds will go to 4 nonprofits that provide essential services to ny'ers in need.

over 100 chefs are baking for it and a few are even coming to town. i have my eye on anything from tandem bakery in maine, which i keep hearing is fab. grab tix, see you there!

this week, i...

📚 read unreasonable hospitality. s/o to fotn elijah kochin for this rec! this book by will guidara of eleven madison park fame is about the power of overdelivering whenever possible. i.e. he overheard a table of diners saying they'd run out of time in nyc to try a street hot dog, and brought them one all dolled up as a surprise. 10/10, loved!

📷 saw dear new york, the humans of ny exhibit at grand central station. a v cool install that replaced every ad w portraits of new yorkers, many from him but lots by nyc public school students too! imo the most moving ones are underground by the subways – a treat for locals commuting. closes this sun, stop by.

🎧 listened to santa fe by beirut. anyone else craving a desert escape? putting this on while i do my dishes is ticking the box in the meantime. “this day undone / the kind that breaks under / all day at once / for me for you / i'm just too young."

~ bonus section ~

⛺ an ode to tiny tents ⛺ idc about camping, but i've always loved miniatures. i keep going back to look at these models of tent designs that were used as displays in stores w/o room to set a bunch up. so much care in the details here.

💌 and that's the tiny letter! thank you for reading, xo aud
